'The Yard' 09 Riesling

This second tiered wine made by Larry Cherubino 'Wine maker of the year' 2011, perplexed me! I tried 2 different bottles of 'The Yard' 09 Riesling on separate occasions and both times was totally convinced the I was tasting new Hunter Valley Semillon. I suppose I was comparing it to the 'Wall Flower'. This entry level wine was sensational. Painfully chalky and dry with a coil of will full acidity. Don't get me wrong, 'The Yard' is still very enjoyable just I'm confused in the direction Larry has taken his wine. Perhaps the Kalgan River vineyard the fruit was sourced from can give us another dimension for Australian Riesling or perhaps the old saying is true that Riesling is the King of grapes in showing the tepicity or origin of place.
